Planting and caring for potatoes

Potatoes are probably the most important crop in the marketgardens. It is valued for its versatility and relative ease of cultivation. But to get a good harvest, it is not enough to just plant and roll up. We have prepared an article describing the key stages of growing potatoes and measures to protect and nourish them, so that your harvest will be great!
In recent years, many households have complained about damage to potato tubers by soil pests and diseases.
Among the pests that affect potato tubers, the most common are:
- wireworm
- cockchafer larvae
- mole cricket
To combat these pests, it is recommended to use the drug Metariz™.
This preparation should be applied to the soil. It is better to do it twice a year, the first time in the fall before plowing, and the second time in the spring before cultivation, disking, digging.
If siderats are sown after digging up the potato tubers, Metariz™ can be used before preparing the soil for siderats sowing.
The drug is administered in two ways:
- Take 10-20 g of the Metariz™ drug, mix it with dry sand or another substrate and spread it over the soil surface at the rate of 1 acre. After applying the drug, the soil is cultivated (plowing, disking, etc.).
Take 10-20 g of the Metariz™ drug, dilute it in 10 liters of water and treat 1 acre with a sprayer. After applying the drug, the soil is cultivated (plowing, disking, etc.).
The rate of the drug depends on the degree of pest infestation.
To reduce pathogenic microflora (diseases) in the soil, together with Metariz™, it is recommended to use biofungicides Sporomax™ B + Sporomax™ T at the rate of 10 g per 1 hectare.
Treatment of tubers before planting

For better germination of potato tubers in the soil and the formation of a good root system, it is necessary to carry out pre-sowing processing of the tubers.
To prepare the working solution, we take Floriz™ + Sporomax™ T + Bover IM 10g / 10l of water. Tubers are treated by soaking or spraying with a knapsack sprayer before planting. Processing is recommended to be carried out under cover so that direct sunlight does not fall.
Care of plants during the growing season

After the emergence of potato seedlings, the main task is the fight against pests, namely the Colorado potato beetle. For this, biological insecticide Imexab™ 10 g / 10 l of water is used. It destroys adults of the Colorado potato beetle, larvae and, when it gets to the ovipositor, directly the eggs. The drug is also effective against the potato moth. Processing is carried out as pests appear, without being tied to the phase of plant growth.
For plant heights of 15-25 cm, it is recommended to spray with biofungicide Sporomax™ B 10g / 10l of water and growth stimulator Floriz™ 10g / 10l of water + Aminorost™ 25ml / 10l of water + Izomax™ 2ml / 10l of water.
Before flowering, we treat phytophthora with Sporomax™ B + Sporomax™ T 10-20 g / 10 l of water + Izomax™ 2 ml / 10 l of water. After 2 weeks, it is recommended to carry out repeated spraying with the same drugs.
If the summer turned out to be rainy, then the number of sprayings against phytophthora can be up to 7-8 times during the growing season, starting from a plant height of 10-15 cm. The interval between sprayings is 7-10 days, or after each rain or heavy dew.
We wish you good harvest!
