Increasing the yield of winter rapeseed with the help of BioStim™ TK inoculant

Ukraine is one of the leading countries for growing winter rape in the world, thanks to favorable climatic conditions and large land resources for growing this crop.

The average yield of winter rapeseed in Ukraine is about 2.2-2.5 t/ha, with record figures of over 5.5 t/ha. Such a discrepancy is caused by many factors: the potential of hybrids and varieties, soil and climatic conditions, growing region, growing technology, etc.

One of the factors of obtaining the maximum potential of the culture is friendly seedlings and good initial growth of winter rapeseed plants. For this, it is necessary to prepare the soil well and in time, the presence of moisture and high-quality seed preparation.

"Imex Agro Company" LLC offers to use the specialized BioStim™ TK inoculant for the treatment of winter rape seeds.

This is a dry form of inoculant for pre-sowing treatment of seeds, including those prepared in factories.

HOW TO PROCESS THE SEEDS?

Seed treatment is carried out by applying the drug in a planter, bag or concrete mixer.

For this, 50 g of inoculant (2 incomplete measuring cups) is taken, poured into a bag with seeds (1.5 million pcs.), mixed, and then the seeds are poured into the planter.

You can pour the inoculant into the planter at the same time as the rapeseed and mix it simultaneously.

When preparing seeds in farm conditions (concrete mixers), seeds are first covered, then fungicide and insecticide are added, and at the end, inoculant is added at the rate of 50 g/10 kg of seeds. Such processing contributes to the flowability of the seeds immediately after its processing due to the graphite-talc mixture contained in the inoculant.

WHY ADDITIONALLY TREAT SEED WITH BioStim™ TK INOCULANT?

The composition of the inoculant includes nitrogen fixers, phosphorus and potassium mobilizers, phytohormones, trace elements, vitamins, etc., specialized for these bacterial cultures.

Treated seeds enter into symbiosis with these bacteria during germination. As a result, the division of the cells of the root system is improved due to the phytohormones released by the bacteria. The root system becomes more branched with a large number of root hairs. This enables plants to better consume moisture and nutrients.

Unlike chemical phytohormones, which act for a limited time, the bacteria in the composition of the drug secrete them throughout the entire vegetation period of plants.

Thanks to phosphorus and potassium mobilizers, there is an increase in the forms of phosphorus and potassium available to plants from the soil and fertilizers, which positively affects the nutrition and productivity of rapeseed.

You should also pay attention to the fact that there is additional protection of the root system from pathogens.

Due to the above, better development of plants occurs both in the autumn period, and faster recovery of vegetation in the spring and further growth.

In autumn, a larger amount of sugars accumulates in the root neck, and flower tubercles are intensively laid in the axils of the leaves. Such plants overwinter well and have good potential for a quick start in the spring.

WHAT ARE THE ECONOMIC INDICATORS OF USING THE INOCULANT BioStim™ TK?

The seven-year experience of using this drug shows a stable increase in the yield of winter rape seeds, as well as an increase in the oil content in the seeds.

Thus, the increase in seed yield is from 0.28 to 0.5 t/ha (up to 12-15%), which approximately gives an additional profit from 1 ha at the level of UAH 5172 - 10200 (prices as of 03.07.24).

Costs for 1 sowing unit (1 bag) are on average about UAH 220, or UAH 72-75/ha (1 bag = 3 ha).

Thus, the economic efficiency of using the inoculant is fully justified.

At the same time, a better alignment of the seeds and a greater weight of 1000 seeds are also noted.
